THE RAT
Born 1924, 1936, 1948, 1960, 1972, 1984, 1996*
Rats need partners more than any other signs and are looking for soulmates who can share work commitments or weekend pursuits, making life a two-way street every day of the year. If you are with a rat, be prepared – they don’t date, mate and relate the way other signs do. They are looking for a deep bond that can last a lifetime and have enormous issues, should a partnership ever fall apart.

THE PIG
Born 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995*
The pig is defined by her relationship with the world of children and the decisions she makes to get pregnant (or not) have a much bigger impact on her life, than they do for other Chinese zodiac signs. The parent-child relationship is key to understanding what a pig wants from life, as she must have it one way or another. If she is unable to have children then she may adopt. If partners are unable to have children with her, then she may reject them in favour of a less suitable person, just to have her heirs on the planet.

THE DOG
Born 1922, 1934, 1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994*
Dogs – the kind you grew up with, or own now – seldom stay with their families. They are adopted by human families instead and quickly switch allegiances. It is in the nature of things that the average dog ends up a long way from home, and with almost no connection to her original litter, unless puppies are taken together. Dogs are used to moving on.

THE ROOSTER
Born 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981, 1993*
Roosters are intensely self-aware people who are not bothered by labels like old, young, male or female. This also goes for questions about their racial heritage. Roosters are here to express their personalities first and foremost, without worrying too much about the way the world stereotypes them.

THE RABBIT (THE CAT)
Born 1915, 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999*
The Rabbit – also know by some Eastern astrologers as The Cat – is one of the few Chinese animals to be directly associated with business, finance and trade. Rabbits are a commodity in China today just as they always have been and are sold as food and clothing – Angora rabbit fur is particularly valuable.

THE TIGER
BORN 1914, 1926, 1938, 1950, 1962, 1974, 1986, and 1998*
Tigers need tribes of friends and allies. Their friends and allies need them too, but the Tiger is intensely individual and fiercely independent, and must remain a little apart if the group is to remain cohesive. Like Snow White among the Seven Dwarfs (released in The Year of The Tiger in 1938) the Tiger person is nothing without the tribe, but also stands well apart from it.

THE OX
Born 1925, 1937, 1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997*
The Ox corresponds to the sign of Cancer in Western astrology, and this is the most fiercely patriotic Chinese zodiac signature. If you are an Ox then you are typical of your home town or homeland – your roots. It is very hard for you to switch social classes, cultures or countries. Rather like an Ox, you belong to your own patch of turf.

THE MONKEY
Born 1920, 1932, 1944, 1956, 1968, 1980, 1992*
Does the mind rule the body, or does the body rule the mind? Monkeys are more strongly affected by their physical condition and physical state than any other Chinese sign. The monkey’s relationship with her body is extremely important to her. This Chinese zodiac sign corresponds strongly to Virgo in the Western zodiac.

THE GOAT
Born 1919, 1931, 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991*
Goat people develop their own value system in their teens or twenties and most of them stick to it, for the rest of their lives. If they do dramatically change their attitude towards money and the material world, it has profound consequences and will alter every other aspect of their existence too.

THE HORSE
Born 1918, 1930, 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990*
The loyal horse is the most patient of animals, plodding to the top of the mountain or taking its rider as far as she wants to go. Horses are the animals most associated with conquest in history and without the horse, the Romans would not have had an empire. Perhaps it is not surprising that horses are the most ambitious sign in the Chinese zodiac.

THE SNAKE
Born 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989*
The flickering tongue of the snake and its famous hiss (and occasional rattle) tells you the first thing you need to know about this sign. Snakes need to be heard and fully understood. This Chinese zodiac sign vibrates strongly to the sign of Gemini in Western astrology and it’s all about communication.

THE DRAGON
BORN 1916, 1928, 1940, 1952, 1964, 1976, 1988, 2000*
Are you a dragon? You are the dreamer, visionary and idealist who sees pictures in her head, that others must learn to accept are real. Why? Because eventually you make them real. Dragons are magical creatures in Chinese and Western mythology and you have the power to take those dreams, visions and strong ideals about the world and turn them into something concrete.

ABOUT ASIANSCOPES
You know your regular horoscope but what about your Asianscope? You might assume you have a Chinese sign, but in truth, you actually have an Asian Sign. Asian astrology combines Chinese, Indian, Vietnamese, Korean, Tibetan and Japanese knowledge – all of which evolved at the same time. The biggest common factor across all these different kinds of Asian astrology is the importance of the number twelve (twelve signs, and also the twelve-year cycle of Jupiter, which in Western Astrology we associate with good fortune.) This ‘rule of twelve’ links Eastern and Western horoscopes in an uncannily accurate way.
