The Economist, Tarot and Astrology

When The Economist magazine published its now-famous 'Tarot Cards' cover, The World in 2017, it was immediately seen as an accidental prediction by many psychics. It was illustrated by Joe McLaren (thank you to readers who found his credit) and on his Facebook page, he comments

"The Economist's 'World in 2017' launched yesterday- an annual magazine that predicts all sorts of things that might come to pass in 2017. As you might imagine, most of it makes rather grim reading - it's sort of the opposite of the Beano annual."

  1. Hi Jess, Surely, The Magician is ruled by Mercury, and air sign, Gemini. Its as you know a major arcana card (a TRUMP card), and as he thinks the sun shines on him all the time, maybe its not Cancerian at all. The first thing I thought of of Eastern Bloc housing , his wife comes from that kind of housing, and of course its his birthday in June. Any use???

    • Yes, it’s strange how we talk about Tarot Trumps, which is perhaps why The Economist decided to go with this unusual cover. I can see why you are interpreting this card as Eastern Bloc housing too.

  2. Further to that, Vladimar Putin,VP. The Sun behind the Magician, again Putin, opposite Pluto in Capricorn (Russia), 30 days in June.

  3. Hi Jessica

For some unknown reason I feel the power of the Buddha this week and I am drawn to the infinity symbol in the cards which, as you know, represents the cycle of death and rebirth in Tibetan Buddhism.

The Dalai Lama is a Cancerian – do you think he is the magician and the card has something to do with his homeland ie China/Tibet?

Also, is it possible that the death card relates to the North Korean nuclear missile launch into the sea off Japan? I think you mentioned before the problems with North Korea this year.

    • You are the second person to have interpreted the mushroom cloud and red sun in that card as a North Korea symbol, which is fascinating. They did in fact launch a missile recently, although this would mean dating the card differently, so the date sequence in the reading would change. I am very open to suggestions, though. And yes, The Dalai Lama is a Cancerian.

  4. How absolutely fascinating! Thank you for sharing this rather ‘eerily unique’ magazine cover!

I’m particularly loving on that Star tarot right about now… xx

  5. Thank you Jessica for another first class article. What a wonderful way to start the week! I am interested in your comment about astrology and the tarot not being used to predict death as those are the rules. I had thought in ancient times both were used for those purposes and currently when celebrities die you often can read a retrospective analysis of their chart explaining why according to planetary alignments. What is most curious though is who did this cover and how is it staying such a secret?!!

    • I was always taught that the Death card never meant death, any more than the Eighth House did in astrology – and my own experience has borne that out. At the same time, we know that reality is a result of our consciousness so perhaps back in the Sixties, Miss Dixon really was able to use her clairvoyance to see President John F. Kennedy being warned about assassination – and she apparently wrote to him, accordingly. I agree with you about the cover – I’m contacting The Economist at the moment to see if we can find out the name of the illustrator who for whatever reason, receives no credit, for this stupendous piece of original art.

  6. Hi Jessica.
    Long time, no speak :)

Great article…as always. And very fascinating.
My profession is Tarot Readers and in traditional Tarot, The Magician is ruled by Mercury which in turn rules Gemini and the huge yellow orb behind him is traditionally The Sun.
In keeping up with your articles, I believe I read somewhere on your site, that Trump was rumored to be a Gemini, but of course, as we’ve been shown, nothing about Trump is real. If he is a Gemini, then his behavior most certainly represents that of The Twins, as very much of “bi-polar” nature…not to disrespect anyone who has this condition.

To me, I think This Magician represents Trump and his outright refusal to live in the real world. That he’s a major reality tv star elected as a our nation’s President does indeed give this whole shebang an air of “virtual reality. The Lemniscate ( or infinity symbol) over the head represents “As Above, So Below”.
His whole “reality” and presentation of it comes from some other made up place..some other “virtual reality”.

I feel that with The Magician “cloning” houses or structures speaks to either Trump making up some new GDP/Housing Market numbers or it is a veiled representation of him trying to recreate new “structures” built like something else (Russia). One might even be able to argue that each of those little structures coming out of that box could be looked at as departments…new governmental departments fashioned from the same mold.
With the Sun behind the Magician, this speaks to something being “illuminated” about Trump that he is very, very much unaware of…
I’m most curious about the “3-D” lettering on the side of the box, because one could look at those as initials: DE…a person? A country? Some report? Who knows?

I also think that not withstanding the lightening strike on Trump Tower, March 16, 2016, this could also be a veiled reference to someone having “thoughts that come out of the blue.” We could certainly argue that Trump does have a shock factor in thought, speech and Twitter action.

As for Merkel, Le Penn and The Wheel, the question becomes who is the man strapped to Wheel with them? I would portend that this is a yet unidentified European leader and that future events will have all of them spinning around in circles.

That’s my two cents (pence) worth.
Thanks for such a great article. You never cease to amaze in the brilliance of your articles :)
And thanks for allowing me to jump in.
    Tara

    • Tara, it’s good to have a professional Tarot reader here, so I am publishing both your comments. Trump has given two completely different birth times, so I no longer use the astrological birth chart for him (which fails to show anything that has happened to him since November). However he is undoubtedly a Sun Gemini. I really like the way you are seeing what appears to be 3D in the Magician card as DE, or perhaps a report.

      • Hi, the man is geert wilders, dutch politician. Dutch are voting tomorrow (15/02/2017)
The moon is Libra in the morninig, then Void then Scorpio.

        • Thank you. Yes, the man spinning around with the French and German leadership contenders is Geert Wilders, although as I’ve noted elsewhere here, the timing is a little strange if we use the Economist Tarot spread in chronological order. I wonder if there is some other upheaval post election?

    • Re the Wheel of Fortune. Surely the 3rd figure is Geert Wilders, and the election in Netherlands is tomorrow. He has made it clear if he can get a majority, he will be having a referendum to take the Netherlands out of the EU.
So that card looks like a continuous process starting now until at least September.
Fascinating analysis, Jessica and Tara. Spooky, darlings!
Whoever put that together for the Economist has very clear sight.

  7. jessica…no need to publish this, but just between you and I, the last 3 cards are quite compelling.

The Death Card could be one of two things:
    1. The ouster of the South Korean President.
    2. The death of Kim Jong Un – The Red Sun or the red Son.
I would lean more towards the 2nd, as the South Korean President being ousted is big, but not a huge major factor for US/Korean relations.

The Magician and the Wheel I’ve explained so the last card in the series I feel The Star card might relate to the the G-8/G-20 nations. Perhaps The Wheel might be a reference to the leaving of some nations or the “weaving up” of other nations into another. That really doesn’t make much sense to me, but just throwing it out there.

For me, the whole key to the spread is that box in The Magician card…..the 3-D reference.
    DE could stand for Germany.
But whatever the spread is eluding to, it is most curious and I love, love, love a good mystery.

    • You are the third person to be drawn to The Magician card! I am actually going to publish this as I am very interested in people having their own take on the cards. Of course, the red sun in the card could easily be a symbol for Korea as well as Japan. Perhaps the Death card has not yet happened. As every Tarot reader knows, Death is the symbolic ending – the transition.

    • Hi Psychic Virgo and Jessica

I’m fascinated by your comments/Discussion – I thought that the Star card might refer to the break-up of the EU, following Brexit and perhaps changes in leadership in Germany and France? Just a thought – I’m not a tarot reader or an astrologer.

  8. Hi Jessica, I am blown away! Astrology and synchronicity at it’s best. Thanks for this fantastic read.

  9. What a fascinating and intriguing read….thank you Jessica.

I’m intrigued about the infinity symbol and possible numeral 30 in the Magician Card.
30 – the number of Spirit, divine perfection, unlimited creative expression
Infinity symbol – perfection, dualism, limitless and endlessness and a figure of 8 on it’s side.
The 8th Tarot card – Strength shows the infinity symbol and a woman with a lion..physical strength is not a match for spiritual or inner strength. But the card is also one of boundaries and limitations…knowing when to take control or when to give in.
The number 8 stands for power, money, change and worldly involvement and number Eight people are strong, practical, successful business or political leaders so could this card represent a woman and be connected in some way to the following Wheel of Fortune card?
Not sure what these possible meanings may add to the image and possible interpretations but worth throwing them in the mix…

  10. I think the Magician is Justin Trudeau, PM of Canada.

Canada is a ‘Cancer’ becoming a confederation independent of the UK on July 1, 1867.

The Magician is wearing red which is a color strongly associated with the Canadian Flag and other symbols related to Canada. The sceptre is held by a ruler or sovereign.

The figure in the card looks youthful, fit and healthy.

The houses could be symbolic in regards to the immigration situation, with red roof tops – again Canada.

The machine could represent manufacturing or jobs.

The VR – Canada’s current policies and vision for tolerance and equality and so on. How the world could be.

    Just ideas.

  11. Hi Jessica,

I can see a story unfolding through those cards and it s one of warning rather than prediction.
The third person on the Wheel of Fortune is the Dutch right wing candidate, Geert Wilders (you can see the Dutch flag and his longish grey hair). All three represents the key stories of the next European elections in Holland, France and Germany in September. But I think the meaning here is in the fact the three of them are all equally tied up on the Wheel of Fortune. Equally helpless and obsolete in what is to come?
The World card describes the bases of Western civilisation in my view: look at the Legislative/Judiciary Houses, the Egyptian Pyramids, Western art and Literature symbols (and I have shivers as I write this). The World is linked to the Tower, the Judgement, the Wheel of Fortune and the Death card: the election of Trump signals the end of the dominance of Western civilisation and democracy as we know it. With Death (or the end of the Western world), should be the chance for the East to rise (red sun), but it does not look too hopeful (Death card) due to the risks linked to warfare (nuclear explosion), as well as the bigger challenge that climate change and pollution represents for the planet (see the bees in the left hand top corner, the problem of flooding and growing food at the bottom of the card). The Hermit shows symbols of Brexit, Scottish Independence and the building of new barriers (mountains) between nations and across the world, with people attempting to take refuge behind high walls (isolating themselves like Hermits). The Magician looks like the typical representation of Democracy being blinded by the escape to a Virtual Reality world and a never ending rush for productivity and material concerns. This card is to be contrasted with the Star, or the bright stars that are the future of the planet: the young (Generation Aquarius). What is sad is that they are shining bright above a dead world (moon like craters): this is the vision of an apocalyptic world where the young can only be bright stars (spirits without bodies) because prior generations have destroyed the planet. Not a prophecy, more like a warning of what 2017 could lead to if we do not put the next generations’ welfare and future first.

  12. Hi Jess,

What a fabulous article, again. It’s really captured everyone’s imagination, including mine, which is as over-active as ever. So I’d better just confine myself to the intriguing 9th July Magician card, as this is a read so bear with me.

I think we may well see a major breakthrough in the field of quantum physics on this date and it may well be related to the CERN accelerator or some similar device concerned with the quest for the infinitely small. On 9th July there are a number of astrological aspects to consider. It is interesting the Magician card is number 1 in the Tarot deck and the machine may show 30. Maybe this is 1-30 degrees of each sign, or the 1-30 of the days of the month, such as June or September. The blazing summer sun is behind the scientist / magician and he / she is blindfolded just in case. Summer runs from June to September.

Firstly the Sun (17 Can) opposes Pluto (17 Cap), so the blazing light of the Sun will penetrate the black void of Pluto in man’s high ambition. It could be that the light is shone on outer space by recreating these aspects close to home. However, it is also significant that Proserpina and Psyche meet at 17 Virgo (2 Ps in a V) and so they form a helpful wedge or ramp. I think they are two good omens to have forming this wedge, which is a device employed in rudimentary experiments to create acceleration.

But for me the real action happens at 22’. Apollo (22 Leo) opposes Panacea (22 Aqu). So the symbol of youth and speed faces off the symbol of protection. The signs seem to suggest that the single-minded of science will be at odds with the concern of the wider world. Also, Fortuna (22 Gem) opposes Saturn (22 Sag). Surely this symbolises a Wheel of Fear, where the science’s wish to communicate its brilliance to the world will take precedence.

Science will seek to sanctify itself, as shown in the card, as it considers it may have unlocked the secrets of the universe. It’ll be no coincidence that 9th July is a summer Sunday, so we know that this will take place in the northern hemisphere and the western world.

So now we have a Mystic (magician’s) Rectangle, but that’s not all. At some point Mars (22 Can) will be opposite the Moon (22 Cap), so the Mystic Rectangle will be bisected along its length. I refer to this pattern as the Grand Lens and I think the focus will be in short supply. There will be promises of potential infinite energy, as symbolised above the scientist’s head, and security for all, like printing houses off a conveyor belt. This over-excitement and lack of perspective (the blindfold) will lead to unexpected or unforeseen consequences that cannot be dreamt of yet.

I may have lost perspective myself, but the big difference is that I am just suggesting this as an idea – that’s all.

Keep up the good work, we’re all really enjoying it.
    KC

      • Thank you too. I better keep it brief for the other two cards.

The Wheel of Fortune isn’t about Geert Wilders per se or indeed any given election. It’s about Nazi / Fascism in the past (Germany), present (Holland rowing with Turkey) and future (Le Pen to win in France). The wheels are very much turning in Europe and the UK is ducking out. The Wheel of Fortune is Card X and by October we will know where the wheel is turning. This also fits in with the chronology of 2017, very much in evidence (in big numbers) on the cover.

So the final card is The Star. There’s lots to go at here. The star is very much associated with Advent in the UK and Europe, where the comet Panstarrs will pass over. It effectively makes a 15th star on the cover, so might we look at the 14th/15th December as the date of this event?

The Star card in Tarot is card XVII, so this is very much associated with teenagers and generation Capricorn and Aquarius, who often features on the star card.

Another point of interest is that the comet is referred to as M1 Panstarrs. Given that we have had the numbers 14, 15 and 17 mentioned already with the UK, I thought that might cover the M1 motorway. The Junctions 14-17 cover Northamptonshire in its entire length. It’s the sort of young county where a youthful phenomenon might occur, especially in the virtual world. It just reminded me of Bletchley Park (guess which county) where the young, disparate experts joined together to take apart the WWII Nazi regime by stealth.

  13. The comments are fascinating. Thank you Jessica for initiating the trains of thought.

I still think the Magician is the Dalai Lama (red robe, vajra staff et al). Vajrayana Buddhist visualisation is after all considered to be synonymous with virtual reality (3D simulation) here in the West.

The Dalai Lama has recently been quoted as saying that Western women will save the world. So maybe the Tarot card represents the empowerment of women and the home as the foundation and source of all spiritual development.

He also thinks Trump and Putin will form a unique bond – two circles in contact and two spheres of influence interacting with each other.

  14. Hi Jessica.
Those houses/structures coming out of the box…And I mentioned that it could be some reference to governmental departments hocus-pocus….
The White House just announced a new EO coming to “reorganize” the Executive Branch.

    Here’s the link:
    http://www.politico.com/blogs/donald-trump-administration/2017/03/trump-schedule-today-white-house-235989

This takes place at 4:30pm EST, today.

This smacks of “dictatorship” as he his systematically dismantling some very important departments with the government.

  15. Now I am getting carried away but…….

Hilary Clinton is the ‘hermit’ (at the moment) and did want to stop TTIP (the TransAtlantic Trade and Investment partnership between the US and the EU) which is the ostensible reason for the protest march.

The bottom right corner of the card depicts New York being ‘cut off’ (metaphorically speaking). I read where Hilary might stand as mayor of New York later this year, which could indicate some major conflicts between New England and the rest of the US. Since the stock exchange is based in NY, I would expect those conflicts to be financial in nature and related to European stock markets.

Incidently, the horizontal red, white and blue flag on the ‘wheel of fortune’ probably represents the Slavic nations (Eastern European) whilst the vertical tricolour flag represents France. Merkel and Germany is more obvious. So power in the EU shifts between the leaders of Germany , France and a Slavic president (Tusk?).

  16. Lol…
    OMG, Jessica.
Watching a story about Deutsche Bank here in America.
They just paid 7.2 billion dollar fine to Fed govt for mortgage swindle.
What makes this so weird is the they were also busted by New York state In 630 million dollar fine for Russian money laundering.
Now, the guy who prosecuted the Federal case, was Preet Bharaha who was just unceremoniously fired from Justice Department by Trump, yesterday.

The connection? Trump has loans out to Deutsche Bank…

Those houses coming out of the box just keep coming up.

The Magician. He can not only create reality using his mind power, but he can also do sleight of hand tricks.

    The plot thickens…Lol

Bloomberg Mag has all the info and don’t forget to look up the Kushner deal.

Please come back and tell us who did the cover for The Economist….
    Brilliant!

  17. Fascinating, almost spine-chilling, Jessica. Full of admiration for your skill in analysis and insight.
Re the Wheel of Fortune. Surely the 3rd figure is Geert Wilders, and the election in Netherlands is tomorrow. He has made it clear if he can get a majority, he will be having a referendum to take the Netherlands out of the EU.
So that card looks like a continuous process starting now until at least September.

Whoever put that together for the Economist has very clear sight.

    • Thank you. Yes, the third figure is Geert and he is currently coming a very slow second in the results (March 2017) so his place on the wheel is very odd, given that it seems to be talking about September/Merkel as the spread continues through the year. I agree, the illustrator has clear sight!

  18. Interesting, I see a candidate of the new prime minister of Holland in the Wheel. It should be soon figured out if he could win. He starts from low…

    • Geert Wilders is coming a slow second as the election results come in now (March) but if we take the Wheel of Fortune to represent the German election, that takes us to September. I guess we’ll know more later this year!

  19. Hi Jessica,

Eight is an interesting number and there’s more “eight” in those cards. I see four couples. The tower – the Star; judgement – the wheel; the world – death; the Hermit – the magician. (Even involves a bit causationism here? ) It reminds me of North – South; west – east; northwest – southeast; southwest – northeast. What if you put these eight cards in to a circle accordingly? Dose it give any new insight?

    • Now there’s an idea. The Wheel of Fortune card is the odd one out in the sequence, of course, because it ties three elections together which are actually falling in different months. I am interested in your alternative spread, though!

  20. Dear Jessica
What a fascinating discussion we are all having on a global scale. I don’t know much about the symbolism going on in these tarot cards, so I have just done a bit of research online regarding the magician card. The symbol above President Trumps’ head is a Möbius band – a mathematical symbol for an entity with only 1 surface. They are mostly seen in conveyor belts due to the lack of friction. They have a mathematical value of 0. There is a conveyor belt in the card with presumably Trumps property portfolio/business empire going round.
The lettering on the Virtual Reality glasses he is wearing could be interpreted as his lack of living in the real world, his need to be ahead of everybody else, or do things differently.
What I do find concerning is the fact that he is dressed in a Roman toga like an emperor -Julius Ceasar? We all know what happened to him. He is holding a staff up that looks like he is trying to light the bulb at the top. Why?Divine inspiration perhaps. It is all a bit fuzzy.

  21. This is fascinating! Thanks for posting it. I couldn’t help but ‘see’ own take on these. My two cent’s worth… Tower – there’s a note on the door which made me think this is a Trump’ executive order unexpectedly unleashing the old divisions. World – exposing how the elite use portrayals, image, words, ‘facts’ and masks. Hermit – east watching anti global mobs in the west, transforming nexus of power stealthily. Death – end of the era which began with Hiroshima and Nagasaki (maybe replaced by climate as threat). Wheel of Fortune – the real shock will be in Germany. Star – it’s showing a red planet. Mars. Next generation anger/drive due to make an impact (comet). A warning to ‘dinosaurs’??

  22. What I see in this is as follows: 1) beginning with the tower, the death (annihilation) of the old world order; (+) supported by the death card (transformation- Scorpio). As a tarot reader and psychic I sense the introduction of a new currency that is non monetary, the rise of robots (the houses being produced in an automated factory like machine – potential dehumanisation of person, home and environment if we aren’t careful; the 3D and 30 represents the three levels of existence – body, emotions and spiritual and on all levels the upcoming transformation will impact us; I also see the collapse of banking and Capitalism as we know it to be replaced hand in hand with robotics, the ‘cyberization’ of money and paper money disappearing completely – 2) we will see the hints of this in 2017 – signified by the Magician as the creator behind the scenes (the magician being a metaphor for humankind as opposed to one particular person). The magician sows the seeds of his/her harvest and reaps his/her harvest; the infinity sign above signifies the cycles of the harvests and of karma (both being interchangeable and interlinked). The magician (humankind) is shown as being blindfolded, suggesting he creates but almost in a ‘blind’ unseeing fashion. Linked in with robotics, the more humanoids take over, the greater the danger of the ‘blindfolded’ blind creator magician syndrome where robots do the work for us but with the danger of no capacity to think, no sense of conscience, no ethics (removing the ‘human’ out of ‘human’ completely if we don’t watch it; 3) Hence, we can say, humankind in 2017 and onwards (and before) is in the throes of creating an unprecedented future like none other seen before and that 2017 is the year that marks the point of ‘no return to the Old Order’ or old World. There is a sense of humankind dicing with danger, with the future of the planet (ecologically) (the ‘world card’s – also synonymous with completion of old cycle and beginning of new) and the ‘death’ and ‘tower’ cards. Like the magician we have the ability and power to do great good but also the flip side of the coin is that to destroy The Sun behind the blind magician symbolises the ‘new Dawn’ – the ‘dawning of a new Order’- 4) The Hermit card asks us to ‘reflect’ – to look inwards, to seriously think about where we are heading as humanity as a whole rather than making the potential mistake of the ‘blindfolded’ magician and just using our power without thinking through the consequences of our actions. 5) Lastly, I see 2017 and the Economist tarot major arcana deck cover as heralding a prediction of humanity beginning it’s real stating point of ‘no return’ into the so-called ‘Brave New World’s that Aldous Huxley so brilliantly illuminated over half a century ago. But ultimately there is a very karmic aspect at the centre of all this: we, as humans, can choose to either blindly and without conscience, enter into this Brave New World with potential devastating or very lucky consequences or if we take the advice of the Hermit card, we will seriously think about what we are creating, today’s and tomorrow’s world for our children and the forthcoming generations, for they will be the inheritors of our Earth and it is they whom will reap the Harvest whose seeds we are in the midst of sowing circa 2017. The power to decide and to create is with us: how do we use this – or, potentially, ab-use it, we blindly harness it? That is the ultimate question and only we can decide that – the human race as one whole.

  23. Adding to my last comment, I wanted to highlight that the Wheel of Fortune card highlights the ‘harvest’ the magician creates could go very well or potentially be a disaster according to whether he takes the advice of the hermit and acts ‘consciously’ as opposed to blindly ( aka the blindfolded magician) and the stars card represents us making the leap in the age of Aquarius (from the Age of Pisces); it heralds the transition of Uranus into Taurus – May 2018-2025) and the symbol of ‘hope’ for humanity. But at the flip side of coin warns us not to be bedazzled by ‘stars in our eyes’ and to keep ‘grounded’ ( a danger of us not being grounded in the Age of Aquarius as it is an Air sign – however, Uranus, into Taurus next year should help us with this transition).

  24. Good Morning Jessica,

Today there are elections in the Netherlands, Geert Wilders has his natal Moon and Jupiter at 18 degrees of Aries today transiting Moon and Jupiter at 21 degrees of Libra, also nearby we have transiting Uranus at 22 Aries, Transiting Vesta is at 20 Cancer conjunct his North Node at 18 degrees of Cancer. Transiting North Node is conjunct his MC at 3/4 degrees of Virgo. This reminds of the French Revolution.

    • Thank you. I haven’t seen a chart for Geert Wilders and have not yet had time to check the data. I am a little wary of supplied charts these days, because Trump had two (both with widely varying times) and Clinton had three! Thank you for your comments, though, that’s very interesting.

  25. I think the man on the Wheel is Gert Wilders….looks like him too.
As well, he is beside the Netherlands flag, (horizontal red, white and blue colors as opposed to vertical red, white and blue of France’s flag next to Marine Le Pen).

    • Geert Wilders is certainly on The Economist Tarot card (Wheel of Fortune) but as the election has been and gone, the timing is a little strange if we take the cards in chronological order. Perhaps his experiences will somehow affect the Merkel results in September?

      • After the Dutch election results, the commentators were saying it meant this trend to populism was ended, and we could return to Europe politics as normal. But what do we see in the Wheel? Le Pen on the way up, and Merkel going down. (And as the Dutch result involves multi-party coalitions, maybe that wheel will still turn.)

  26. Let me add some ideas. The Tower maybe a financial system. The flag on the left may represent China. It may also represent communism and the lightning being a North Korean missile issue. Two differing parties with socialism/communism on the “left” of the card.

The hermit card shows TTIP on a flag so clearly highlights a people rising up against globalism.

The death card which may show a rising japanese sun could relate to Fukushima as the dead fish may relate to recent reports of marine life disappearing with links to radiation.

I feel its important to avoid being clouded by anti-Trump bias. Far more is at stake and risks are worldwide.

  27. Hi Jessica

This is my take on the Economist Tarot.

The Tower = Sudden unexpected change or loss, but anything built on firm foundations will last or survive.
Interesting in this card to me are the two crowds separated by the Tower – the Communist flag and the Christian cross. This suggests to me that there is a balance in America of the separation of Church and state, and that this balance is starting to shift through the introduction of “Obamacare”. I thought without looking at the picture too hard that it was an Islamic moon, but then saw that it was the communist flag.

Judgement: In my traditional deck this shows a group of people standing from their coffins infront of a great angel. My usual reading is that something you thought was dead and burried is back and needs to be dealt with again.
Given the picture of Trump on the globe here I wonder if this reflects the lack of seriousness that his Presidential campaign was given by most liberals. IT also shows us that Trump sees this as his rightful place in the world.

The World – This is the final card in the Major Acarna, suggesting the end of a cycle and to prepare for a new cycle. Time to use the wisdom you have gathered as you journey through the cycles of the Tarot and face the world.
This version of the card with the different buildings and books etc shows the juggling of the global powers as they wait to figure out Trumps positions in the world. It also shows the nervousness of the world with this new leader.

The Hermit – The Hermit suggests that time in solitude and silence will help an individual to resolve difficulties facing them. In this case I don’t feel that being separated from society is a good thing.
This Hermit is shown removed from the protesting people, watching them, rather than leading or challenging them. I feel this shows Trump feeling somewhat isolated to what regular people think and feel. I’m strongly drawn to the broken globe of the world below the figure, from the Judgement card, suggesting that the people will not be happy about his inability to talk to them.

    • Oops just posted half :)

Death is a dramatic change, often “killing off” part of yourself.
Looking at the Magician, I’m wondering if this version of Death reflects the change of mood in the American people. There seems to be a change in their thinking, seeing themselves as part of the world and softening the pervasive “pull yourself up by your bootstrap” mentality. Together with The Tower, Death show Trumps’ attempts to change immigration and healthcare in the US actually leading to more “socialist” ideas in the society.

The Magician – The traditional Magician shows a man standing at a crossroads with the four suits of the Minor Acarna around him, representing the wisdow he is gathering on his journey – but can you trust him?
This interpretation of the Magician only gives the figure a wand – less wisdom? Is he just a trickster? The 3D printer of houses reminds me of cookie cutter houses in the UK, suggesting that the character is totally in their own little world and doesn’t realise the different circumstances that mean people require different things. (A reflection of the Hermit)

The Wheel of Fortune – In my Mythic tarot deck, the Wheel of Fortune shows the three stages of a woman’s life – the girl, the woman and the crone. In this wheel I’m sensing a true revolution in society.
I’m encouraged that the storm clouds (also in the Tower) are departing and the sun is coming out (also in Death). I’m so strongly drawn to the election boxes under the wheel, I feel that changes are coming – even a new election in US politics with more than 2 serious candidates?

The Star – A new hope and joy in the future. Something secret has come out, and it is all for the good.
I love this ending card. The stars are making me think of Hollywood. Is it possible someone very famous (Oprah?) might be entering politics or taking office.

      • The Mythic Tarot interpretation of the women is really interesting – I agree, a true ‘revolution’ as the wheel revolves, for women. A new election would be fascinating. And I agree with you about Oprah.

  28. Hi Jessica,

    I hope you are well.

When I look at The Magician, I see justice is blind in the gesture, and with the VR headset. I see the magician as Christopher Steele, who wrote the dossier that’s created quite a stir.

You mention the clues are Cancerian, and Christopher Steele is a Cancer, June 24, 1964, Aden, Yemen. The Magician being ruled by Mercury, and the sign of Gemini, the duality of the VR headset is the blindfold on lady justice and hi-tech spying. Spying is a form of virtual reality since the spy is a three dimensional being creating an identity that’s not really there.

I seed the infinity symbol at the top as the scales of lady justice, suspended if you will, in this spying virtual reality video game. The houses more duality, Trump’s real estate holdings, and the Russian banks that financed them. Condos are people’s homes, and hotels are temporary homes for travelers. There are 4 houses, Trump’s properties are in North America, South America, the Middle East and Asia. The artist technique for that part of the card references Russian propaganda posters, so there’s the connection the Russian connection. And finally, the assembly line is the 30 year hence the first arms reduction treaty in history, which was signed in 1987.

The 30 is what I was getting hung up, so I Googled the cold war end 1987, and wa la, on the CIA’s website I found that reference.

A nice diversion from the muck of my 12th house.

    Cheers!
    Jeff

    • Jeff, that is so fascinating. Christopher Steele as the Magician is just perfect – and I did not know he was a Cancerian. So is Julian Assange, so that’s interesting. Wikileaks, of course, has been exposed with Russian links by Louise Mensch. And the 30 year connection you have made is jaw-dropping, especially since the CIA website confirmed it.

      • Thanks! Once I saw that Steele was a Cancer, I knew I was onto something. More duality with Assange being a Cancer. Both have the same energy, both using in opposite ways.

Louise Mench is brilliant! Thank you for turning me onto her. She’s in it for justice first, not ratings or retweets.

What’s funny about the 30 year connection, when the results came back, I was scanning the summaries, not the source. I saw the reference and clicked. Found what I was looking for and then realized it was the CIA site. It brought the find of Steele as a Cancer full circle for me.

Thank you once again for the forum.

        • The Steele and CIA story is pretty mesmerising. Louise Mensch is someone I first met as a novelist – she was also working as a novelist and we were involved in an anthology together. I’m glad you like her Twitter feed. The forensic examination she is doing on Russiagate is interesting to me as an astrologer because there was very obviously a cover-up in September 2016 and it involved health (Virgo). I think the rest is pretty obvious!

  29. Dear Jessica
Could you please help in regards to renewing my Membership.
For the past 2 years, I had membership to your website and recently expired. I have tried numerous times to renew my membership, I have received links which have unfortunately not worked, and I’ve cancelled my subscription in hope that I could renew my membership but this has worked either and no avail.
Could you please help in regards to this matter ASAP.
Thanking you for your help :-)

  30. When I look at these cards I don’t see one event, I see themes. Just like the Fools progress .

If the artist was channeling then it’s interesting how he has substituted some images for his own and altered others.

The Tower has acquired a door with what lookits like a parchment nailed to it. The Cold War is declared – its on again. Russia and the. Christian world are at war. Very recent news seems to support this.

Judgement has been changed. It’s no longer the internal awakening of the person/ Soul. It’s the world de facto, Trump is the self proclaimed judge, jury and executioner all over the Americas. He has the sceptre and orb to signify his self promotion.

The World, the Dancer in the world Or Universe (“are we human or are we Dancers” ) is changed. It’s now the de facto world of western civilisation. The sun shines a light on its secrets and power bases. Everything is being scrutinised.

The Hermit is still present in the image. We know the answers to the big questions all we need to do is look inside ourselves – we know the answer already. .Our conscience guides us , our heart compass, our direction of travel. It’s singular but when we act together its a wave. We need to guard against mob the mentality. The Hermit remains aloft upon the mountain.

Death – well I was told death means just that. It can mean transition but my experience of Tarot tells me otherwise. We may not ever see our own death but otheWe, it’s posible. However we should be mindful where others are concerned. Anway, see nuclear themes again. The far east s where qe should bw looking the middle East may be a distraction.

The nuclear threat is real and unfortunately may be re emerging but I also see dragonflies to the left in this image – they signify change and transformation so we have a real message here about where we should be heading. There still seems to be a choice.

The Magician has been altered. As above so below is now imaged in the material world. The Magician holds what looks like a mace not a wand. The mace is connected to Westminster parliament. The UK economy is predicated on housing and property so not so good – That’s arguably a virtual reality. More of the same here. How will that work for everyone.

The Wheel of Fortune is concerned with Europe . Germany has the lightening bolt directed at her – so some big shocks look to be in store here. If Germany changes so does the EU. The high point may be hitting a new low.

The Star arguably the most beautiful card in the whole deck. Robert Burns says, “Who should say that fortune grieves him while the Star of hope she leads him”. The Wheel of Fortune may be spinning but stars emit light. These lovely faces are the future and it is theirs. Light always trumps the darkness.

    • I’m fascinated by your predictions for The Magician and The Wheel of Fortune in particular. You obviously know Tarot very deeply. You are the first person to have picked up the mace as a symbol of Westminster. Let’s watch Germany.

  31. Hi Jessica.
    Hope you are well.

Been thinking…Now that Dutch elections are over and Greet Wilders is a non-factor, I can only think of one other country with a similar flag…Hungary. The Hungarian President is Viktor Orban born 31 May, 1963.
Twice elected, first 1998-2002 and again in 2010 to present date.
He is *also* the leader of the National Conservative Fidesz party, a position he has *also* twice from 1993-2000 and from 2003 to present.
Hungary sits right next to Ukraine but it is his political views and “associations” that I think might be significant.

    According to Wikipedia:
“Orbán and other Visegrád Group (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia) leaders declared in a September 2015 meeting in Prague that they will not accept any compulsory EU long-term quota on redistribution of immigrants.[59] He wrote in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung: “Europe’s response is madness. We must acknowledge that the European Union’s misguided immigration policy is responsible for this situation”.[60] He also demanded an official EU list of “safe countries” to which migrants can be returned.[61] According to Orbán, Turkey should be considered a safe third country.[62]”

    Wikipedia also states:
“Orbán’s social conservatism, soft Euroscepticism and advocacy of what he calls “illiberal democracy”[2] have attracted significant international attention. Politico states that his political philosophy “echoes the resentments of what were once the peasant and working classes” by promoting an “uncompromising defense of national sovereignty and a transparent distrust of Europe’s ruling establishments”. He is considered one of the most influential leaders in the EU, and a “talisman of Europe’s mainstream right”.

I sense, that he may be the unidentified man at the base of The Wheel.

    He thinks Trump is “good”…

    And is “friendly” with Putin.

  32. …Wish the edit button function worked here….

What has my attention most, are his beliefs on Turkey….Mike Flynn’s old employer before & during US elections.

  33. Interesting post! Very intriguing indeed, read together with the post you have about the US. Just saw your Twitter post about the UK and the flip flopping of the sterling pound. Any more insight on this please? Trying to plan a good time to convert some currency to have a holiday there this year :)

    • We’ve had an avalanche of words/images about Trump and it can get very confusing, but I trust the astrology. Ask yourself what went down in September 2016. And what was going on behind the black plastic sheeting on the golf course, over that eclipse…

  34. Hi J

Maybe VR is Trump . . . Very Rude, Very Ruthless, (:-?)

The Dictionary says: VR could refer to “viceroy” – defined as:

1 – “a person appointed to rule a country or province as the deputy of the sovereign:

2 – a brightly marked American butterfly, Limenitis archippus, closely mimicking the monarch butterfly in coloration.
    ALSO:
a governor of a colony, country, or province who acts for and rules in the name of his sovereign or government related adjective viceregal

So could refer to the American VP (who knows what horse-trading got yet ANOTHER Bush in the 2nd to top job! frightening!)

…. the Butterfly thing is cute … I’m going with “butterfly affect” Trump sneezes and the whole world gets a cold … endless permutations …

What does the astrology indicate re Trump continuing in the job?

    Best, John
