Aries: August

It’s all about the younger generation in August. Your son and/or daughter. The godchildren or nieces. Your nephews, stepchildren or grandchildren. We have a lot of Leo weather in August and this is about the Fifth House of your horoscope, ruled by the zodiac sign of Leo, the King and Queen of the jungle, with their cubs. You will be thrilled – overjoyed – with what comes to pass as you realise it is the children or young people who matter most. They need to be happy and they will be, if you think about the holiday home, the house, the apartment, the temporary apartment, the local parks or protected forest/wilderness/woods as theirs. Of course, you and your former, current or potential partner are in there too – or a close friend or family member. Yet, it is about the young in August.

You have Jupiter, the planet of blessings, in your zone of intimacy and property – close relationships and the good life – for the first time in 12 years. He makes strong patterns in your Eighth House (holiday homes, land, apartments) which work well with the rest of your chart now. Dates to watch for developing Leo weather include the 11^th, 17^th, 19^th, 27^th and 30^th (allow 24 hours either side for your time zone as astrology time is London time). You also have some interesting questions to answer about the legacy you are going to leave to the next generation. August 2018 is joyous but where do you all head next? What is the plan? I mention this because we have some karma taking place at the moment in your chart, Aries. We have the North Node in Leo, in the Fifth House of heirs and spares. Aries, this is not a straightforward situation. You may all go backwards and forwards, or even get stuck in a moment in time. The Leo zone of your chart is crossed by an eclipse and also Mercury going backwards and forwards. From the outside this looks terrific – the right younger faces, the right place – at the right time – and the right kind of atmosphere. Yet, it may take you some time to navigate as well. Taurus: August

Pisces weather in your horoscope is about friends, acquaintances and the group – that rather fascinating collection of people where there are no boundaries. You will spend August, as a grounded and down-to-earth Taurus, figuring out how to fit this into your life. Do you lose the plot and plunge into this other world? Do you walk away, shaking your head? Maybe you just need to put your toes in the water rather than plunge in. One person in particular, who may have the Sun in Pisces (born February-March) or a strong Pisces chart signature, is likely to tempt you further. He is intriguing, not remotely of this world, open to the mysteries of life, art, culture and science – and has something genuine to offer you. Taurus, you might even call this solid gold. The issue for you is likely to be that he is so far removed from what you know and trust that it can all feel a little confronting. Yet, there is always something to gain from a Neptune transit in Pisces and perhaps you can set boundaries. Contain and control the experience so that you don’t lose yourself in this group, where everybody is all over the place, all the time! A classic example would be a music festival where you are invited to enter into band world for a time. If we’re going to look at specific dates here, the Jupiter-Neptune trine on Sunday 19^th August is the stand-out. Jupiter is about opportunities, expansion, growth and ‘more is better.’ Here we see this planet making a stunning, flowing pattern with Neptune, which always opens the gate to other ways of living and experiencing life. Sometimes it’s just about the alcohol and the company – it can be that basic. Sometimes it’s more profound, so you find yourself with a Quantum Mechanics student who wants you to enter into the Multiverse with him! Jupiter in Scorpio is very much about potential relationships so if you qualify for that, one particular man might be up for an experiment with you. In most cases, though, you are going to feel the Neptune in Pisces side of this cycle, which is very much about making new friends, getting to know old friends better – and getting ‘in the swim’ with a particular society, community, band, political party, charity and so on. If ever a situation needed nets, warning flags, rules, a light house and anchor though – this is it. You could so easily end up over your head, Taurus.

Gemini: August

The great thing about having experienced Uranus (space, freedom, excitement) in Aries (friends, groups) for so many years is the build-up. This long cycle has given you a luxuriously long time to develop the friendships between yourself and others in this circle and work towards something really special. In fact, Uranus is the planet of new beginnings – new chapters – and as you have been working towards an outcome with these people for some time, August should find you celebrating. There is another reason for this. Chiron in Aries in your Eleventh House of networks, communities, collaboration and co-operation has also encouraged you to get away with things! So, there has been a remarkable lack of fear or inhibition about what you all think is possible. This is rather like Bananarama waking up to find themselves with a hit single in the Eighties. Their song, ‘It Ain’t What You Do (It’s The Way That You Do It) with the Fun Boy Three says it all. Even though you and your friends are dramatically different people in every day, what binds you together is the thrill of the attempt. In August it looks as though you’ll pull it off.

The only point to note in your horoscope for August is the long-term potential of what is all around you. Cancer: August

Money! Cancer, with the huge amount of Leo weather now sweeping your horoscope, the Second House of your chart, where you deal with charity, business, banks, cryptocurrency, shares, possessions and the rest – you have big decisions to make. There is obviously an ambition in the background. Your personal Mount Everest, which you know is always there. With the right kind of deal or trade-off you might be able to shorten the distance between yourself and that towering, tempting achievement. You have Uranus backtracking over the top of your chart until early 2019 and that is where we find your mission and path – at the very highest level. Is it really so impossible to get there in terms of your status in life or success? Perhaps not, if a certain sum of money can be put to that particular use.

Cancer, there is a more urgent need for immediate results, though. This is not the far-off mountain top of supreme achievement or status in the world. It’s a lot closer and more accessible. We might call this unfinished business, in terms of work. The reason it’s unfinished is simply that Uranus has gone out of Aries but will soon be back into that sign. So, he is not finished there, and as this sign rules your career, university degree or unpaid work, you should be looking at what is half-done. This is also where a good investment could be made.

The trick with August is to understand what a dollar, pound or euro is actually worth, both to you and other people. This month is about evaluating what a deal, trade, sale, purchase or transaction actually translates into – in terms of what money cannot buy. You cannot just hold money in your hands like some kind of sacred object, any more than the other person can! It is there to be used. Leo: August

How are you to meet someone halfway on an important project or idea, with so much potential? There are a few issues here about who is King or Queen in the relationship. We have quite a lot of Leo weather at the moment and Leo is about the person sitting on the throne, wearing the crown. Is it you, or is it the man with the brainwave? Figuring out status is crucial as this plan could be incredibly successful given enough time, space, care, thought and luck.

As early as Wednesday 8th August when Venus in Libra in your Third House of ideas, opposes Chiron in Aries, in your Ninth House of big concepts, you see the issue. Venus opposes Salacia also in these same chart zones on Friday 10th August and then on Saturday 11th August, Minerva in Aries in your Ninth House of potentially world-beating ideas, also stations retrograde. This means she stands still. Leo, I think that August 7th-12th is going to be crucial to success with this man. He needs to meet you halfway. You need to meet him halfway! That is what Venus in your zone of communication, the worldwide web, publishing, education, academia and multimedia is all about. It’s a duet or balancing act. You need to negotiate something that is a win-win at this time.

On Saturday 18th August, Diana – an important asteroid and daughter of Jupiter – stands still in your chart. Whenever this happens it’s like having someone hammer the point home, again and again. Essentially, you two need to co-operate and collaborate to make sure this potentially special plan takes hold and becomes a success. Yet, Diana reminds you of the need for space, respect for other people’s space, and understanding on both sides. Maybe that is why this man has been so hesitant in August. This same chart zone ruled by Aries is about taking brilliant brainwaves to new areas where they can thrive. Virgo: August

The Eighth House of your horoscope is all about your extended family – the ancestors – and the way their destiny affects yours too. We talk about inheritance when we come to cycles in this house of your chart. The Eighth House, ruled by Aries, is associated with the last will and testament and legacies in general. Of course, there are many different ways of leaving a legacy. You can pass on your skills, contacts, talents, beliefs, philosophies and the rest to a younger generation. We now come to quite a mysterious cycle in your life when the planet Uranus, a symbol of new beginnings, independence day and freedom, goes in and out of this zone of your chart. At the same time, Chiron has just moved in, and this represents quite an important landmark for the family.

It's rather like being Prince Harry and realizing that you have a family tree with longer, deeper roots than you ever knew and seeing how a connection between great-grandparents and other ancestors can be made – in your life here and now. There is a sense of continuity for you in August, Virgo. It may be the influence of karma, as the North Node is in the most ‘invisible’ part of your chart. Hence the mystery. The North Node is about what we owe past generations and what they owe us. When it moves like this through an area of your horoscope where nobody can really see what is going on, there is usually a lot of activity on the other side of life. I am writing these words in a shed in Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s garden – his former home in London. He was a tremendous spiritualist and believed firmly that the soul continued after the body had gone. The message I am getting for you in August is that nobody and nothing in your extended family tree ever really vanished! There is legacy of karma going in both directions and whatever happens in August feels like liberation day. A rebirth or awakening. Libra: August

Leo weather is here and it is really about your friends and the group you belong to. Are you involved with a Taurus friend or another Libra companion? This would make sense as you are experiencing similar/the same cycles. Libra, you only have the North Node of karma in this zone of your chart quite rarely. In fact, it has been 19 years since you saw this cycle. For many people born under your sign, what goes down in August (and it will be joyous; a karmic reward) will have a direct connection with all you did at the turn of the New Millennium. That sounds like the most old-fashioned phrase now, but you did your time, and paid your dues, as we left 1999 behind and went towards 2000 and 2001. Now, in August 2018, there is a karmic payback for that. In fact, you and the others have been working towards something special for quite a long time and the more you have poured into it, the more your cup will runneth over.

The North Node in the sign of Leo is also opposed by the South Node in Aquarius, the sign which rules circles and communities of people. They work together in your chart so there are big messages here about sharing the glory – you are all Queen or King of a situation – as Leo is very much about who rules. At the same time Aquarius is about everybody pooling resources and joining in for a common purpose or goal and there can be no differences in status, or anything else. Aquarius is about tolerance, space and room to move for everybody in the pool. These tracks in your chart come together in the most enjoyable way in August, Libra, and as you are well known for your balancing acts and your ability to make things work between people, I dare say that your own ‘duet’ with one of the friends is behind the overall success. Scorpio: August

The time has come to liberate yourself from a situation which restricts you, Scorpio. You must feel tied down at the moment, emotionally and psychologically. There is a good reason for this! Uranus, the planet of freedom and independence, is going backwards and forwards, in and out of two areas of your chart. Thus, you feel temporarily high and dry and precious autonomy and space must feel very far away.

This is an illusion. I know that you must feel quite vulnerable as you have been living with Uranus in your opposite sign of Taurus for some time. This has brought opposing forces, or opponents, or opposition of another kind. Yet, the time has also come to face who or what you feel has been against you or encircled you. It takes courage to do this but it will also be the making of you. Some things could hurt. That is absolutely true – yet what is the alternative? You cannot spend August continuing to feel so trapped. And the irony is, you are not trapped at all. Oh, it would take a fair bit of determination to see the process through, but once you use what you fear could hurt you, to set yourself free, you will be up, over and out. From there you can shake yourself back into a word where all things are possible. Travel. A different house, apartment or holiday home. New possibilities around your region or even further away. The right to explore and ‘roam if you want to’ to quote the B52’s is yours! You must know this. Liberate yourself with Uranus in Taurus by using who/what you feel has been against you, to set yourself free. A lot of this is about seeing clearly. At the moment, a series of eclipses has blinded you to the truth of your situation. Scorpio is a fixed sign, tremendously determined and powerful when she/he wants to be, and ruled by Pluto, you have unbelievable willpower. So, get to it. Surely you don’t want to stay blind to what might be out there for you, or stuck fast in this rigid situation left over from July? Sure, you have been a victim of the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune. Maybe you would call it misfortune. Leave them behind. Don’t make them a prison for yourself. Sagittarius: August

The focus in August is on work, money, success, status, people politics, business and ‘the system’ as a whole. Getting to grips with this and finding your way through will help you long-term. In fact, you need to understand what makes people tick, especially when they want so very much to be at the top. You have a lot of cycles taking place at the moment – heavy Saturn and powerful Pluto in Capricorn, the sign of the mountain goat who becomes C.E.O. or President or Manager. This is also the retired grandfather who is head of the dynasty! In your house of work, you are living with Uranus, the planet that always threatens change, because it makes personal freedom and independence such an issue, either for you or other people in your career, unpaid work sphere or university life. You tend to get a feeling of imminent lightning bolts and rolling storms with Uranus, as if something (or someone) has to give.

We are also entering Virgo Season so the Sun is moving up to the top of your chart, which is where you deal with your boss, client, colleague or competitor. You really need to reach for the world of books, education, academia, the Worldwide Web on MacBook Air, eBooks, audiobooks and all the rest. Capricorn, unless you reach for it and make it real, it always hovers as potential. An unpopped possibility. This may be the question of you taking on a part-time course to upgrade your professional skills. It may be a novel you need to finish or write. A film or television script that is always on your mind, though you never do anything about it. You get the picture. We have a lot of Pisces-Virgo weather in August ,and this triggers areas of your horoscope we associate with the written and spoken word. The big idea. The big learning or teaching experience. Be reassured that no matter if your interest is in the lecture circuit or extra qualifications, the presence of Neptune in Pisces is there for many years. Yet, it may be time to use the rather random nature of August, with all its highs and lows, its swings and roundabouts, to pursue a definite project.

Aquarius: August

You are ruled by Uranus, a planet associated with freedom from slavery, independence from control and revolution. This planet was found in 1781 when America shook free of Great Britain. In that same year, Mum Betts, a black slave, took her white master to court and won. Also, that year, a musician called William Herschel found the planet Uranus and liberated astrologers from having to work with a horoscope system that had been stuck in the Middle Ages – since the Middle Ages! Aquarius, I hope you are getting the drift with your August astrology. This is your planet. It explains why you go through periodic revolutions in your life when you break with the past and pursue the new. If you are true to your sign, then you will have done this to the extent where your life is almost like a separate series of books, each one very different from the last.

Well, the story continues in August. I realise that you have been nailed, or hammered (to coin a phrase) by situations or people which you feel are potentially still very painful to deal with. You may have been under actual attack on some level, as sometimes happens with the North Node in Leo, your opposite sign. No matter what you have been dealing with, you are now at a point where you can break free. It begins by admitting that you can’t see. Pisces: August

Rest, repair and recovery are required, Pisces. When you are ready to resurrect, you can turn to a very special parent-child relationship (or similar – teacher and student, perhaps) and enjoy a very different kind of life. I am sure you know that you have Neptune in Pisces, your own zodiac sign. I often talk about what this means in terms of your image, body, wardrobe, profile, appearance and ‘armor.’ Then there the names, labels or titles that matter so much when you have your chart ruler in your own sign. People make judgements. You, perhaps, judge yourself on this basis. Every so often, you hit a cycle when you reincarnate like Dr. Who. This is one of those cycles. When you are good and ready in August, you will be free to reach for something that can become part of your picture in life – just as much as you can become part of it too. This may be about your godson, goddaughter, niece, nephew, grandchild or stepchild. It may be about children, per se, as you are involved in paid or unpaid efforts with younger faces – or you could be.
