Aries: 22-28 January 2018

Is your group of friends or fellow collaborators, the Three Musketeers or The Slits? The leadership question is central and it’s worth the effort, especially if you intend on seeing long-term results from 2020 or keeping old friendships for years. The Node in Aquarius is pulling you back to the past as well, so you may want to go all the way back to 1999/2000 in some cases (and if you were born then, all the way back to a past life). I’m sure you know that the life of a group can go on for years, even after the actual group ends, or you depart. These are the ties that bind, with friends or comrades. All the more reason to put a heck of a lot of energy in at the moment, as this is not a January story, it’s a ‘years and years’ story in your life.

Your ambition or position is at the heart of discussions, paperwork or news near Wednesday, January 24th. You have recently been forced to live in the real world, where your profession, unpaid work or university degree is concerned, and you obviously need to be practical – more than ever – but it may also be useful to remember old lessons about power and control.  The part that children, young people or sexual relationships in your life is in the spotlight this weekend. A new deal or compromise also means sharing the controls – not just yet – but you may need to go in, step by step.

Taurus: 22-28 January 2018

Your career, unpaid work or university degree is pretty demanding this week and you will need to set aside more time and energy to deal with the pros and cons of a commitment. It’s rather like being wedded to a project or married to a job – and it does require a lot of thought. You are halfway through a cycle when your house, apartment, family, home town, homeland or household also asks for more focus, as there are clearly questions here about who or what is control. Ultimately you will both/all figure out a compromise so take it slowly. Near Wednesday 24^th you’ll deal with something quite familiar, over the last seven years – the need to use your willpower in order to feel empowered. Foreign people and places, regional differences – perhaps tied into a specific website, trip, book, course or religion – remind you to pour yourself into the art of communication even if there are gaps in the way you/he/she/they see things. An ideal outcome would be an agreement which fairly divides the controls, as control is obviously a major question now.

Gemini: 22-28 January 2018

They say that money is power and the current question about the cash, house, business, charity, precious possessions or apartment is obviously commanding a price tag, in terms of how much power you feel you possess, versus that of him/her/them. When your ruler Mercury meets Pluto on Wednesday 24^th January you should lean hard on all your famous negotiation and persuasion. Whatever deal you both/all agree upon has to be something you can live with long-term. Gemini, we also have major cycles across areas of your chart where you travel, and also travel in the mind. This is actually the start of something that could lead you on a long and winding road past 2020 and end up changing your life. All eyes, then, on the regional or foreign differences, the course, book, website or other head trip. This is worth investing more time and thought in, because no matter if this is your final destination in a couple of years, or a good starting point, it’s not just a ‘now’ choice.

Cancer: 22-28 January 2018

Your former, current or potential partner (personal or professional) is at the heart of your week. He or she is on your mind across Tuesday-Thursday because you really do need to find out more about the balance of power between you, or perhaps a third person. Spandau Ballet sang ‘Questions, questions’ in To Cut a Long Story Short and this is a very long story – and you do need to ask more questions. For a start, since Christmas, things have become much heavier, in terms of what you’re going to have to shoulder. You two share a set of scales – invisible but felt – and those scales must now be weighted evenly if you are going to make a new arrangement work. It may be formal (on paper) or exist as a psychological shift, but it really is time to look at who or what is in control – and why. Sometimes, Cancer, this cycle is about a rival, enemy or opponent. Time to seek objective advice. I dare say you are already aware of the hovering question about the money, house, flat, business, charity or possessions as well. This has long-term implications, especially at the end of 2020 and again from 2023. Professional guidance could be useful.

Leo: 22-28 January 2018

You are now at a point in your year where you really are setting up the long-term future. The story now is very much about your former, current or potential partner. This may be a personal or professional partnership. What would normally be just a matter for January, or 2018, is actually about 2020 and beyond – for many years. Either with this person, or (perhaps) later on, another face – you will be dealing with some central questions about the scales and how to balance them. Leo, occasionally this cycle brings an enemy, rival or opponent into view. If this is the case, please get objective advice because what you create now will have implications at Christmas 2020 and later. I would go so far as to say that what you are experiencing this week with he/she (whatever the story) has deep roots and we may be talking about 1999 for some of you. When making decisions that you might assume are for this year, bear in mind they will stretch far, far into the future.  One final point. Your body type, shape, condition and state are worth all the research you can afford around Wednesday. Control belongs to people who can find the self-control and power belongs to those who can find the willpower. It’s your vehicle so drive it – and if you want a second opinion, get one.

Virgo: 22-28 January 2018

Near Monday and Saturday there is a reminder of something you know so well, about the chemistry you share with your former, current or potential partner. In fact, you have been dipping in and out of this cycle for six or seven years. It’s the same with any enemies, rivals or opponents. A lack of clarity. A lack of boundaries. In this kind of cycle, you can either take a holiday from reality and lose yourself, floating around in the currents – or you can get to a point where you realise you’re in over your head. Out of your depth. If you feel confused but are also confusing him/her or others, it’s time to drop anchor and find a light house. Weirdly, on this cycle some kind of feud or dispute can be a diversion or distraction from the real world, quite as much as a passionate relationship. And again – no boundaries. With all these situations with a particular man (or woman) the best bet is to contain and control what is going on, so the boundaries go back in. I mention this because it’s very likely that the world of babies, children or young adults is a key topic midweek. Your ruler Mercury joins Pluto so the mood is intense, all-or-nothing. Again, this is not new as you’ve been in similar situations for around nine or ten years. The trick, as you know so well, is to find the right words and phrase exactly what you think is going to work. No doubt about it; this is about power. So how can you/he/she/they come to some kind of useful compromise? It’s worth the work.

Libra: 22-28 January 2018

If an adult child or lover/partner is somehow bound up with the events of 1999/2000 or just the early Noughties, then you are about to deal with chapter two. Libra, if you were actually born in 1999 or 2000 then you have past life karma, involving the world of sweet romance, crushes, sexuality – or even younger children in your world (like junior siblings) to deal with this week. No matter what your story is, and it may be about a returning theme in your life, rather than a particular face – it is time to remember the past to plan for the future. The great South Node in the horoscope zone we associate with the next generation (for you) and also sexual relationships, is turning a big wheel. I know that January 2018 may seem like an end unto itself, but actually the patterns you are setting in motion now will go on for many years. It’s rather like throwing a stone into the ocean and realizing the ripples or waves will go flowing past 2020 and into 2023. The central issue is – how do you best ensure that you leave the right legacy to those younger than yourself? Do you do it through sons, daughters, godchildren or paid work/unpaid work with those born 20+ years after you? If you happen to be aged around 19/20 then do you want pregnancy in your life or not? So many questions! Essentially this cycle is about remembering past lessons, gains, losses or rewards in this very area and using what comes back to you, to help you ensure that you are a leading light for Millennials, or Generation Y, or whatever you call them – Indigo Children and so on. This reaches into sexual relationships too, because much as we’d like to pretend it’s all Bettie Page fishnets and fun, again and again, that pregnancy/step-parenting/adoption issue will come up. A shag in a four-poster bed is never just a shag, on this cycle.

Scorpio: 22-28 January 2018

On Wednesday, your ruler Pluto, always a symbol of power and control, lines up with Mercury, symbolic of multimedia, publishing, education, communication and of course the worldwide web. It’s amazing how much nuclear-level oomph there is in Facebook, for example – or a few e-mails. What you figure out will last and given that there are some unavoidable new realities about your situation (since December) it’s worth getting it right – if not perfect. Communication as a whole, be it verbal, digital, visual, will be front and centre until 2020. This week is just a drop in that big ocean, but it’s an important once as every little bit of development counts. What else is going on now? I’m talking about 2020 and I’m going to take you even further, beyond 2023, because your home, family, home town, household, homeland, apartment or house is a January 2018 story, but basically a whole novel by January 2020. It then becomes a series all of its own. You are ‘writing’ this at the moment and would gain so much by looking back months, or even years, if necessary. If you’re about 19 years old, it’s karmic and harks back to a past life so a particular family member may well be an old soul. Whatever your age, ask yourself what was going down with your home town, family, property and so on around 1999/2000 because there is a lot you can take away from that.

Sagittarius: 22-28 January 2018

Ever since the penny dropped about your finances, house, business interests, apartment, possessions or charity at Christmas – you have had to accept the things you cannot change. Saturn always requires a practical response. Now we have an intense statement in your horoscope, midweek, from Pluto and Mercury as well. These cycles are associated with self-control and willpower. If you feel that something or someone is controlling you, or taking over your life to any degree, then the answer is to push back with self-mastery. It actually is the only way, Sagittarius, and then you have to let time do its job. What else is going on now? If the house, apartment, family, live-in partner or flat mates are part of the property equation that is a concern, or your budget, then boundaries is the magic word. Capital B, Boundaries. What is just as important this week is your way with words, ideas and images. Getting your message across is way more than just a January concern. This will take you all the way to 2020, with major developments in 2021, and then past 2023 as the technology transforms, but so does your approach. I don’t know what gear, project, concept, course or plan you are faced with at the moment, but your chart suggests absolutely no time is wasted here.

Capricorn: 22-28 January 2018

You are setting up the long-term future of your business interests, house, apartment, finances, charity and the rest at the moment. What appears to be a January 2018 episode is actually a whole series from Christmas 2020 and from 2023 it becomes something like Peep Show, EastEnders or Seinfeld which runs for years. Neither comedy, nor drama, but certainly a must-watch. This is really about your core values, Capricorn. You’re obviously figuring out the bank, the real estate, the shares (or just your eBay account) but the horoscope you have here, talks clearly about what you will never sell out for. And also, what you are prepared to strike a deal over! One thing that may be useful given that this is honestly the first step in a very long journey, is to figure out who and what is priceless to you. If you are old enough, then remembering what went down in 1999, 2000 may also be helpful as some karmic debts and credits are now coming back. One more thing. The Mercury-Pluto conjunction in Capricorn in your First House of brand, name, image, reputation, title, role and the rest – has happened often over the years. There is some fundamental question here about who or what is in charge of ‘Me’ and it may also help to think back and remember what worked last time. This may also stretch into matters of reputation or profile.

Aquarius: 22-28 January 2018

The North Node, Fortuna and Ceres all gather in Leo, your opposite sign. This describes your opposite number in life. Your former, current or potential partner. It might also describe your opponent, rival or enemy. If you think of a set of scales, with you on one side and he/she on the other – that’s basically it. The scales must now be rebalanced over several weeks. You’re already well into the process. Depending on your age, there may be something useful to take away from 1999 or 2000 as well, if you can think back that far to particular relationship patterns or even obvious landmarks like weddings, births or separations. Aquarius, when you have a pile-up like this in your opposite sign, you are basically being given a chance to spend around a year creating closure. Once this cycle is over in November that is the last time for many years you will ever have to devote quite so much time and energy to balancing scales. Leaving things in good shape is wise, as (again depending on your age) in about 20 years from now the cycle will be back. For now, in this part of January, consider what you can do to make an arrangement work. Of course, it’s emotional because there is such a sense of passion and ownership here, but you, he/she can co-create something new that functions and it’s so worth it. Even agreeing to disagree, if you are at loggerheads, is some kind of agreement. And if you’re in love? Or deeply in business? Well, you both want something fair.

Pisces: 22-28 January 2018

Pisces, there’s a midweek moment with a friend, or the group, that requires exactly the right words. Not for the first time, either with the same face, or with a different face (but the same old story) you need to figure out the controls. People power is a reality and you have discovered it since 2008, more than once, but people also want to have power, or feel powerful, or just be empowered – and that’s reality. Use what you remember and know from 2008-2018 to help you and remember, it’s all about the words. What else is afoot this week? Well, something very close to you is centre-stage. It is yourself, but only as you know ‘you’ because quite frankly, you have many layers. Far, far below the surface lies your unconscious mind. Beneath the layers of your aura rests your entire chakra system, which shows the shape your spirit is in. Beyond that, if we dig beneath the layers of your life at home, or on the computer, or maybe at work – there is a whole other story going on. Whenever you get the cycles you have now, there is a sense that you’re contributing to your own future, and so you are. From 2020, and more intensely from 2023, your secret self and secret life will be absolutely central to your existence. What happens this week gives you radar to use below the surface – your own surface. It could be an interesting exercise to remember and write down your dreams and see what gives. There is always so very, very much hidden from view with Pisces.
