When the Astrology Doesn’t Work

What’s going on when the astrology doesn’t work? When a prediction does not come true? One thing I have learned in my time writing horoscopes since my very first days as a baby astrologer writing for Elle and Vogue, is that there is always a good reason for a horoscope fail and it’s easily fixed.

Aquarius Seventies

ONE – YOU HAVE THE WRONG BIRTH TIME, DATE AND/OR PLACE
The biggest astrology fail I had on this website was a prediction that Australian politics would see Malcolm Turnbull put in charge of the Liberal Party (or perhaps his pro-Republic colleague Julie Bishop) replacing Prime Minister Tony Abbott. Okay, this might still come to pass one day – but my birth data was not confirmed. Thus, the prediction was out by at least a year, maybe more. If you don’t have information from the person concerned or their birth certificate, you’ll get the timing wrong. I actually no longer make predictions about the Liberal government of Australia as we just don’t have the AA Rodden Data. (Lois Rodden, one of the most eminent astrologers of the 20th century, created the Rodden Rating system for data. The only data we have for Malcolm Turnbull is DD, which Rodden referred to as Dirty Data!)

TWO – YOU ARE BORN ON THE CUSP AND DO NOT HAVE YOUR CORRECT SUN SIGN
This is easily fixed. If you were born on the first or last day of a Sun Sign bracket, and nothing in your horoscope makes sense, you’re the sign before or after. Try it. (And if you have a birth time, set up your chart at astro.com so you can at least figure out your correct Sun Sign).

THREE – YOU ARE USING INCORRECT ASTROLOGY TEXTBOOKS OR WEBSITES
There is a lot of badstrology out there. Bad astrology. Are you using a book or website which has the facts wrong? If so, you are going to find nothing clicks. For example – you might still read that a Twelfth House transit is a sign you will be going into a mental institution or jail for a while. Oh dear. Please don’t assume the astrology is wrong. It might just be the astrologer.

FOUR – YOU’RE BEING TOO GENERAL ABOUT THE MEANING OF THE HOUSES
The meaning of the twelve houses has been covered elsewhere on this website, but if you are still not reading the houses correctly, you’ll have your information wrong. For example – the Fifth House is about sexual relationships (actual or potential) which lead to pregnancy, or through eventual marriage, the acquisition of stepchildren, nieces or nephews. It is also very much about sons and daughters now, and also godchildren, stepchildren and foster children. On a broader level it is about youth projects, junior demographics and a younger generation’s needs and wants. If you’re just classifying Fifth House as ‘love’ and even ‘horse-racing’ (bad astrology!) then you’re not going to have your predictions right.

FIVE – YOUR ASTROLOGER IS HAVING A BAD DAY
It’s amazing how people expect their astrologers to be ‘on’ all the time, every day of the year. Just like musicians, we have our off days too. Sometimes our concerts aren’t that great. Stay with the astrology, though, as another astrologer may be in perfect tune that day! This applies to you too. If you’re normally an accurate astrologer and you just had an epic fail, then you might just be having an off day. It’s not the chart…

SIX – THE ASTROLOGY IS (SECRETLY) RIGHT!
Astrology is often secretly right about famous people, but those famous people have a team of Public Relations people employed to cover up the truth about their lives.
The media will often fail to report the truth, for whatever reason…but do trust the astrology. Right through the troubled marriage of Diana, Princess of Wales and Prince Charles, certain astrologers were fearless enough to write about what was really going on, from the charts. In the end, Diana employed one of them. So there you are. Sometimes the astrology is right, but the truth won’t come out for years.
